Can't Eclipse God's Truth - 3 Scriptures to Shine God's Light!

You too must put on your glasses (God's truth) and see through the darkness and let others see God in you!  | Truth & Empowerment for your faith journey | www.chamelevans.com

So you've probably heard all the buzz about the Eclipse that will occur today and I'm pretty excited to get to experience a total eclipse here in Nashville.  Even though it's only going to last a few minutes, it's a pretty big deal here as the last one occurred in 1869 and the next one will be in 2153. OMG!

So I'm pretty excited to experience this with my family today.  But you know me, I love how God reminds me of His power and glory in every single aspect of life.  All the talk about the eclipse got me thinking about God's word and how he reminds us in John 1: 5 that the light shines in darkness and that the darkness can't overcome the light!

Did you catch that friend?  See the eclipse is exciting news today but we can't overlook all the darkness that is going on in the world from the racism and hatred that occurred in Charlottesville, VA to the terrorist attack in Barcelona, and that's just the latest in the news.  But let me hit home a little bit, what about the darkness in our homes and communities?  How we treat one another with disrespect, speaking death and lies over ourselves, marriages, children, neighbors, churches, etc. Maybe how we can be selfish and not help our fellow brother in need?  Or how we get so consume with the busyness of life that we overlook God or what He's trying to do in and through us?  Can't you see how this darkness creeps it's way into our lives and into the world?

We live in a world of darkness and sin everyday but the amazing news we must remember is that this darkness is only temporary and that Jesus Christ is coming back soon to take back His church.  But here's what we can do, let's walk in love and walk in God's light.

Just like you have to wear special glasses to view the eclipse so that it doesn't hurt your eyes and to get the full viewing, you too must put on your glasses (God's truth) and see through the darkness and let others see God in you!   God's word will protect you, it will change your character, it will change how you see others, and it will empower you to walk out God's love. Change begins with us -- change begins when we let God SHINE!

So as I watch the eclipse today, I'm going to celebrate and rejoice in the powerful and mighty hand of our Father because I stand knowing that God's light will overcome it all!  Will you stand with me and SHINE God's truth and light in the world?

Let's start by mediating on these three scriptures, praying them out loud, and walking them out daily! Here's to shining bright for the glory of God!

"Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life." - John 8:12
"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." - Matthew 5:13-16
"Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path." - Psalm 119: 105
